Heaven and the Earth

I have been looking for some films and images that evoke 1970s dreaminess and haze for a while, but only just now, on a friend's blog, did I find some gold.
Terrence Malick's 1978 film Days of Heaven looks to be one I must see.
Thanks Absorb.

How predictable

Do these kinds of men actually exist? Or is it only in old Hollywood where the men pursue the women because they find them totally awe-inspiringly gorgeous?
I have this Ralph Lauren ad posted on my bedroom wall. Just once, I'd like to be swept off my feet and to dance slowly in a field.
Whilst wearing gumboots and an evening dress.

In the meantime I'll just wait for my phone to ring.
Because surely there's at least a smidgeon of etiquette left in modern society?

I won't hold my breath.

Up, Up and Away

I mean what girl wouldn't want a dress made from 15,000 blue balloons?

There'll be days like this

Sometimes I feel like I'm trying to blend in, but just don't quite succeed.

Other times I swear little pieces of me fly off, scattering in the wind to find new places to settle, tired of being ignored or mistreated by me.
There are days when I am just a shadow. Struggling to exist, I am caught between the elements that can make me appear or disappear.
Then there are those days where I feel totally smothered by the world, covered in its dust and residue, unable to come up for air.
And then there are todays. Those are the ones where I want to be a part of it, without having to actually be a part of it.
I think I'm just going to crawl into a corner and watch the world go by from there.

Hi Mum

As I've mentioned in the past, my mother likes to email me with blogs and websites she thinks I'd find interesting.

Well yesterday she emailed me with a link to a blog she thought I might be interested in...
It was my own blog.Apparently she doesn't read the words, only looks at the pictures.
Thanks Mum.

Scrap Keep

I've worked out a way to make crazy, sustainable, wearable art pieces and pass them off as part of my major work collection.

I am going to make a series of collars and pieces of jewellery that utilise all the little scraps of fabric that I've been saving from the garbage since I started the collection.

Not a single piece of fabric has yet made it to the bin. And so yesterday, I spent some time using the scraps to make this neckpiece.
Whether or not it makes the cut doesn't matter. It has made me enjoy the collection again, bringing what I like doing to what the tutors expect me to do.
And there is nothing wrong with that.

Cycle of Life

At the V&A museum in London, you will find an amazing little treasure printed on a wall in the fashion section- "The Fashion Wheel".It's by Ruben Toledo.I was only going to post about that, but then when I googled the man, I discovered a whole crazy world of his fashion illustrations.Once again, I wish I had talent with a pencil.
