Walk Like an Egyptian

Cya later Sydney.

I'm off to sail the Nile
Frolic amongst mummies.

Bask in the glory of thousands of years of history.

And haggle my way through souks and medinas.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN.

Comet Girl

Here are my costumes for jebediah's film clip "She's Like a Comet" featuring Comet Girl and Jebediah the Superhero.

Standard superhero fabric of choice, Lycra, has been utilised to its fullest.

Will try to never use leatherette in my life again however... And also will avoid making gloves from now on too.
The helmet caused some concern, but Reverse Garbage came through with the goods, and it ended up looking presentable.
But while I could see all the flaws, the feedback was positive, and they looked rocking on-screen.

Can't wait to see the footage of them saving the day!

Rule Breaker

So they told me I wasn't allowed to put my models in headdresses for the university graduate fashion parade.

But I stuck it to them and did it anyway, putting them on the models at the last minute before they hit the runway. I am so glad I did, because it just made the looks so much more complete.

They're lucky I didn't put one of these headdresses on just to spite them...

Strike a pose

Thank you for the ride, university. Maybe we'll meet again some day.
In the meantime, I've got an old friend I need to reacquaint myself with... Hello sleep.

Durch die blumen reise

Ahoy there great field, shining in the sun.

Who is it that turns you to face the warmth, who tilts your heads towards the heaven.

Is it she? The warrior of the gods?

Governess of the clock, mistress of the darkness, she surveys her landscape.

Ahoy there great field, who do you worship?

The wind in the super duper flared pants

A storm blew in.

It brought with it sculptural clouds and wind to billow the pants.

There is nothing like a solid march through escalating weather.

Caught on a branch

Heigha and Hatta

Printed & dyed, bleeding into one.

This jumpsuit and I fought wars and I'm pretty sure the jumpsuit won most of them.

Except for the final battle, in which I totally claimed victory.

Cat Walk

I have my first ever fashion parade tonight! Launch My Label in Sydney.
I have hardly slept a wink, and am still sewing finishing touches. (Note: last minute sewing=not very straight lines. Hopefully the lights are so bright you can't see my dodgy stitching...)

Wish me luck!!!

here we go again

I have collars on my mind again. I have been brainstorming a way to using up some of my excess digitally printed fabric in a collaristic way.

These leather goodies just blew my mind, they're amazingly sculptural and dramatic.

There is kind of an element of car tyre about them... But so much cooler.

Adios University

Tomorrow I hand in my final ever university assignment.

I am a bit emotional. I'm not sure who I'll be if not a Fashion Student.
It's been fun, uni. I have extremely fond memories.
But now, it is time to say good bye.

And Hello to the real world.

Shit.

I fell asleep beneath the flowers

To keep the suspense (and my computer happy) I'm going to show off our photo shoot bit by bit.
This was the first look we shot, and the first look I finished making. It also happens to be the one I'm most excited about wearing after I get it all marked and paraded.

oh, and the Frida Kahlo:

As worn by gorgeous model, Lauren, from Chadwick's.

Through the clover

Sneak peak at the fashion film "Alice" we've been working on today. We're all sunburnt, exhausted, but happy. Tomorrow up at the crack of dawn (literally) to capture the sunrise, then friday for the sunset.
Full photo shoot, film and credits to come.
All you need to know now is that everyone working on this film is outstandingly talented and positive and makes everything such a joy.

Washing day

I finally dip-dyed my shaggy dress after weeks of procrastinating.

I am NOT looking forward to piecing it back together like the world's hardest jigsaw puzzle.

I like how it kinda looks like an art installation hanging on my clothesline.
Just don't tell mum I dyed it in the kitchen...

smoke&mirrors

Who is the sun warrior? Commander of the shaddows, queen of Through The Looking Glass.

It is she who rustles the weeds on a still day. It is she who you see out of the corner of your eye.
Don't look too closely. She exists only in fragments and in the flakes of rust from a piece of abandoned machinery.

Who is the sun warrior?
